Kathak and Bharatnatyam Classes in Dublin

DanceOnRhythm introducing  Kathak, Fusion Bharatnatyam and Garba/Dandia Classes in Dublin, CA.
– Kathak (Lucknow Gharana); starting from September 8th
Kathak is one of the eight major forms of Indian classical dance. Kathak evolves during the bhakti movements, particularly by incorporating the childhood stories of the God Krishna. Emphasizes rhythmic foot movements adorned with ghungroo and the movement harmonized to the music, The Lucknow style is more about various facial expression and emphasizing acting.
– Bharatnatyam (Fusion); starting from September 10th
This is a special beginner introductory class designed for 5-9. Children will be exposed to the basic components of Bharatanatyam (music, rhythm and expression) without having to adhere to its strict routine. The focus of this class is to engage, entertain and stimulate young children in a happy and effective way. As we will keep the flexibility of adding other styles of dance (from different regions of India) and versatility in music and songs it will be a unique experience for all.

Indian Drumming & Music Workshop

8-Jim-Santi_by--Mark--Engage your mind, hands, heart, & voice in learning the rhythms and melodies of the classical music traditions of India. These arts are taught through an oral tradition using vocal percussion syllables to teach drumming, dance & singing. Learn the poetic and mathematical patterns of Indian Percussion. Workshop is an engaging introduction to one of the world’s greatest classical arts traditions and will lay a strong foundation for future skills and concepts that increase focus & problem solving.
Mr. Owen is a percussionist, educator, producer & composer. Owen began training in the North Indian percussion instrument, tabla, studying at the Ali Akbar College of Music, at the CA Institute of the Arts, & in India. In 1995, Owen began studying South Indian percussion instruments. Owen holds a Master’s Degree in World Music from CA Institute of the Arts. In 1999, Owen received a fellowship from the American Institute of Indian Studies, which enabled him to spend 2.5 years living in India conducting research on percussion ensembles in India.

San Ramon Summer Camps at Camp Central

The City of San Ramon’s Camp Central Program is in its 7th year of offering a flexible and convenient summer camp options.  Camp Central fits into any San Ramon family! Do you need activities for your children this summer that are fun, active and foster learning? Are you looking for the convenience of an all-day program, or do you want to pick and choose based on a changing schedule? Camp Central is the answer to all these questions and more!

Camp Central offers 15-20 different camps each week include arts, dance, theater, science, engineering, academic, sports, and traditional day camps.  Full day or half day programs with extended care are available. Try something new each week.

We have camps such as Adventure Club which is a traditional outdoor camp where campers play games, activities and crafts around a weekly theme.  Some themes this year include superheroes, Minecraft, pirates and the Wild West. We also have our Crazy 4 Sports program where campers play 4 different sports or sport variations such as crab soccer, water balloon volleyball, and capture the flag. We also have water games every Friday!  The camps offered at Camp Central are fun, exciting and help develop campers socially and mentally.

There are 2 locations to choose from: Central Park utilizes both the San Ramon Community Center and Iron Horse Gym, and Dougherty Station utilizes the Community Center and Windemere Ranch Middle School.

Class meets at Quail Run Elementary School in San Ramon for 4th and 5th graders. Students do not have to attend Quail Run Elementary School to register for this class.

San Ramon Bah Humbug! 5K Run and Walk December 6

Start the holiday season off with a healthy fun run or walk through San Ramon. This year’s Bah Humbug will be a chip timed race on the certified 3.1 mile course. This is a fun, flat, paved route beginning at the San Ramon Community Center at Central Park, 12501 Alcosta Blvd, and right off the 680 freeway at Bollinger Canyon Road. Participants will receive a holiday long-sleeved shirt and back by popular demand the Bah Humbug Ornament!

Race day registration begins at 7:30am and the race starts at 9am. Registration is available online at www.active.com search Bah Humbug, San Ramon or on the City of San Ramon website www.SanRamon.ca.gov.For more information about this event call (925) 973-3200 or email park…@s…com.
