Berkeley Students offering CS/College Advising Bootcamp
Good afternoon,
We are proud to offer this 6-week course to 7th-11th graders who either have little to no computer science experience or would like to brush up on some fundamentals. As a group of UC Berkeley Computer Science students, we have designed the course based on three introductory CS classes at Berkeley: CS 10, CS 61A, and CS 61B.
We have created our curriculum to be taught in Python through a project-based teaching style, meaning that by the end of the course, students will not only have CS knowledge, but also an impressive, tangible project to put on their resumes/college applications. During the last week of the session, we will be offering a 1:1 college advising session as well as a class-wide presentation on how to effectively create a college application tailored to CS.
Logistical details are as follows:
6 weeks starting 6/16, with 2 hours of virtual instruction twice a week
5-10 students, so at worst, the student-teacher ratio is roughly 3:1.
$360 ($15 an hour)

My name is Rishvanth, a freshman at DVHS. Recently, I was introduced to a wonderful organization called PURE that strives to help underprivileged children through the power of education. As I was listening to members of the organization talk about their experiences, the problems they were describing for the children were very disheartening. Girls in India didn’t have proper bathroom supplies which caused them to miss school days. This resonated with me, because a simple, everyday aspect that many fortunate people overlook is a big hurdle for kids to overcome in other places of the world. After the meeting, I was determined to help in any way I could. So, I decided to do something I love that would aid the organization. Then I realized that I can use my 2 years of experience in teaching Geography to start a Geography Class whose proceeds will go straight to the charity. I will be giving weekly classes for one hour to elementary kids. That’s why I am requesting a donation of $10 a month. Core Success Strategies for 6th Graders-Free Session
Hello Parents,
The 6th-grade core consists of an interdisciplinary class made up of social studies and the language arts. Goals of the core are to help every child develop a strong academic foundation in preparation for the coming years of middle school, and to boost their self-esteem through hard work, responsibility, and humor.
This is Eileen, a credentialed California educator. I am going to host an informative session to discuss valuable insights about the 6th-grade core.
The event covers:
-20 minutes of powerful presentation on Core Strategies for 6th Graders
-20 minutes of Q&A session with Eileen
-20 minutes of Meet and Greet with other parents to offer support and preparation
