Berkeley Students offering CS/College Advising Bootcamp

Good afternoon,
We are proud to offer this 6-week course to 7th-11th graders who either have little to no computer science experience or would like to brush up on some fundamentals. As a group of UC Berkeley Computer Science students, we have designed the course based on three introductory CS classes at Berkeley: CS 10, CS 61A, and CS 61B.
We have created our curriculum to be taught in Python through a project-based teaching style, meaning that by the end of the course, students will not only have CS knowledge, but also an impressive, tangible project to put on their resumes/college applications. During the last week of the session, we will be offering a 1:1 college advising session as well as a class-wide presentation on how to effectively create a college application tailored to CS.
Logistical details are as follows:
6 weeks starting 6/16, with 2 hours of virtual instruction twice a week
5-10 students, so at worst, the student-teacher ratio is roughly 3:1.
$360 ($15 an hour)
Attached is a syllabus and an interest form so we can contact you with more details.

Take a Survey on a Universal Basic Income To Create Change

Hello!
I am a student at Fallon Middle School in Dublin, California, and I am working on a Civic Actions Project (CAP) to try to change policy and instate a Universal Basic Income into California state legislature with a group. We have already contacted several state authorities on this matter, including the Department of Finance. Our goal is to find a tangible solution to Californian issues such as poverty and job loss. A Universal Basic Income is a possible solution to these problems.
If you want to help make a potential change in California, please take our survey: click here.
It will take only seconds of your time — but it could make a gigantic difference in our approach to policy change!
Thank you for your time and consideration. Let’s look, together, towards a future where everyone has an opportunity to do well — and the funds to do it!
— Fallon Middle School CAP Team VHCB

Dublin: Middle and High Schools

Neighbors, We are thinking of moving to Dublin but have been scared by reading overflows in middle and high schools. I understand that there is only one high and it is way beyond the capacity. I know they are using portable class rooms by adding more classes but wondering if it is having negative impact on securing AP placements and electives.  The property that we are looking has Wells Middle as the home school whose rating seem to have plummeted from 9 to six!
Interested to learn experiences of parents who have middle and high school going kids.
Thanking you all in advance
