Mrs. Sudha Iyengar (official name), a.k.a. Sowmya established “Carnatic Music School” in May 2007 to teach vocal carnatic music to several aspiring students in South Florida. Sowmya has received advanced training in carnatic music from Smt. Akhila Krishnan, a very senior carnatic vocalist from New Delhi, India.
Sowmya is also proficient in teaching Sthothrams, Bhajans and light classical Utsava Krithis that are sung at various religious functions. Her students in South Florida perform regularly at various programs in the South Florida region.
Recently, Sowmya has moved to Pleasanton (Bay Area), California, where she intends to continue teaching music. She is planning to start Carnatic Vocal Music classes and Sthothram/Utsava Krithi class.

Carnatic Music classes:
· Kids: Classes have already begun – sign up soon as spots are getting filled up.
· Adults: Beginners batch starting from Oct. 24th on Saturdays 9:30 - 10:00
Light Classical - Sthothram & Utsava Krithi Classes:
· First class on Vijayadashami Day (Oct. 22) from 8 to 8:30 pm
· Regular classes on Saturdays from 10:00 - 11:00 am (starting from Oct 24th)
